In 2001, Rhode Island based Davol, Inc. and its New Jersey based parent, C.R. Bard, Inc., sold tens of thousand of dangerous, defective hernia mesh patches of various sizes to needy individuals. Then in 2005 and 2006 these products were recalled due to exceedingly high failure rates, risk of piercings of the bowel and organs, fistulae formation, adhesions, bowel strangulation, infections, peritonitis, sepsis, organ shutdown and potentially death. |
